Covenant language. These are obligations, not liability shields.

WhatCanIBuild.org is offered freely to builders who are willing to build in good faith. Use of this platform constitutes agreement with the following terms — which are written as obligations we both hold, not as protections for us against you.

What you may do

• Browse, share, and discuss any idea on this platform.
• Request and receive a project spec for any idea, for any non-extractive purpose.
• Build projects using the WellSpr.ing APIs for civic, community, or charitable purposes — including commercial projects that are covenant-aligned.
• Contribute to the Make it Rain ledger and leave a public note.
• Contact other supporters through the proxied channel, for purposes that are kind and covenant-aligned.

What you may not do

• Use this platform or the ideas generated here to build surveillance tools, extractive data products, or systems designed to profile, score, or disadvantage the people they purport to serve.
• Misrepresent the origin of content, data, or civic records surfaced through the WellSpr.ing platform.
• Use the contact proxy to harass, solicit, or communicate in bad faith with other persons on the ledger.
• Scrape this platform in ways that degrade service for other users.
• Claim intellectual property rights over project ideas generated here. They are freely given and freely offered.

Covenant alignment

Projects built using ideas or APIs from this platform are expected to reflect the WellSpr.ing Eight Principles. We cannot enforce this technically, but we can and will remove API access from projects that demonstrably violate them. The Principles are public at wellspr.ing.

Limitation of warranty

This platform is offered as-is. The ideas here are starting points, not guarantees. We make no claim that any project built from them will succeed, that any API will remain stable, or that any civic data is current and complete. We do our best. You do your best. That is the arrangement.

Changes

We will update these terms when our practices change. We will not make changes that retroactively narrow what was permitted when you first used the platform. Updates will be noted with a revision date.
